It has turned out to be a good week on the job front after all. I got a call yesterday about a job where my friend Rachel works (it was a phone screen and they'll call next week to set up an interview most likely), and 2 calls today from 2 different recruiters about the same exact job. Weird. The interview I have tomorrow is with recruiter #2, who seemed more on the ball than recruiter #1.
The job with Rachel's company is not anything close to what I'd like to be doing, but I will do if they offer and if nothing else pans out. Beggars cannot be choosers and I'm awfully damn close to begging at this point. Wouldn't that suck though? To go all this time looking and end up doing something totally awful and not remotely on my desired path? I may have no choice but to find out how bad it sucks.
Of course I was awesome on the phone so I'm sure my interview with recruiter #2 will be a shorty as he probably just wants to check me out and make sure I don't look like Mimi from the Drew Carey show.
I'll be sporting my new bob, my lucky tweed pants with my new Liz Claiborne jacket that I bought today at TJ Maxx for $20, brown pointy shoes and tasteful Tiffany loveknot necklace. My standard interviewing uniform. Oh, and a big giant smile..
Jeezus, I hope someone will hire me soon.
MDH has informed me that his vendor partnership is over as of January 1st. Meaning he will lose the office space he has been using at his client's headquarters. The office space he has been occupying for the last 3 and a half years. Meaning he will be working from home full time from then on. Meaning I will be kicked out of my cozy home office as it will become his cozy home office. Meaning I gotta get the hell out of here before then.
Here is a picture of what my office looked like summer before last when I was working from home in-between gigs on the road. Messy (sorry SRU - I'm a slob, but I did eventually pick up the phone bill from off the floor and file it where it belongs)! But what a nice view outside, eh? I'll miss it.

Good luck and hopefully the "find a job" vibes I sent work for you.
The good vibes you sent me might work as well. A girl who I am friends with (she introduced me to my girl as well) sent me an Email address for a friend of hers. His company is looking for me (a person with my qualifications). We will see.
Maybe the blog world find a job vibes are working....
I still hope you find the perfect job for you. Maybe this opportunity is better than you think?
Heidi
Evil - thanks! Networking - way to go. I'm a big believer in good vibes.
Heidi - Thanks - I try not to lose hope - the interview I have today is a good "on my desired path" opportunity - so I'm very upbeat about it.
Now why did you have to go and point out the mess? I was admiring your lovely roman shades and the view you have but when you brought up the mess the sound of birds singing came to a screeching halt.
Knock em dead at the interviews, I hope you find something that you really like! Then maybe you can afford another computer or a laptop and be able to still use a computer while MDH is using the other office!
as a former recruiter, timing is everything. I often had clients that would use more than one firm to find a candidate. Mostly because our fee's might be less than the other...so they favor saving money...LOL
Hope you get your dream job!
How is the furnace working out?!?!?
Sorry, I have been on bed rest...thanks to this pneumonia.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you - even though you won't need it. They'll be wowed by you.
Don't job interviews suck just by their very nature? People scrutinizing you - people who don't even KNOW you. Damn. I'm sure they'll look at you and think "WOW, WE LIKEY!" Although I'm with you - that view would be hard to replace (from your window). Good luck!
Good luck with your interviews. I hate rejection, so even reading about it makes me cringe. That is a lovely office space. It seems so sad to have to give it up.
I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
Can't you just push his laptop into the bathroom? You've got to fight for that office. Put blue paint on your face, grab a skirt, and charge!
