Mini Meme

I'm going to plant a couple of air kisses on Mr. Radloff for tagging me for a meme! He did it a few days ago, but I've been a little busy and then I had an attitude problem and now that that is all taken care of I'm free to meme.

1) Write your own six word memoir
2) Post it on your blog; include a visual illustration if you’d like
3) Link to the person that tagged you in your post, and to the original post if possible
4) Tag at least five more blogs with links
5) Leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!

When you add together how much I love to go on and on about myself and the somewhat flowery nature of my writing style this meme is is going to be a little challenging for me.

In order to pare things down appropriately I've decided that my 6 word memoir will only cover up to age 4.

It's OK because a lot happened.

1. Abandoned - at 6 months old left by my biological mother on my dad's doorstep with a paper grocery sack filled with diapers and baby clothes.
2. Bounced - my dad couldn't take care of me either so I lived with a bunch of different relatives until he could get settled.
3. Dragged - when my dad wasn't working he wanted to spend time with me so took me with him everywhere he went, mainly to bars and poker games and never to a lecture. I was like a tiny drinkin' buddy. (See picture above)
4. Adopted - my dad and I were a package deal so when he met my mom she legally adopted me. It's probably the best thing that could have happened for both me and my dad. My mom is pretty awesome.
5. Meltdown - I had a hard time adjusting to our new "normal" life style and made life very difficult for my mom.
6. Sister - Things calmed down after my sister was born and we were like a real family.
I'm tagging Gwen, Linka, Kate, WendyB and Leonesse

WOW...your life would be a great movie! I can't believe how much you experienced at such a young age.

Ren Woman - kind of like a cross between Kramer Vs Kramer and Paper Moon. I had a very strange start in life.

That's powerful stuff, miss. It's the lack of a backstory like that that ensured I would never be a real writer.

Wow. Lady, we have very similar childhoods. My mom's been married 5 times, 4 of them by the time I was in 4th grade. The 4th adopted me so their kid and I would have the same last name. She finally got it right with 5. Each and every one of them had some issue - physical abuse, mental abuse, drug abuse.

You look so cute sitting there next to your dad! I'm so glad he found your mom and that you had her.

I'm all over the meme but need some time to think about it. Thanks for the linky-love.

Your post reminds me of a quote by mark twain:
"The secret source of humor itself is not joy, but sorrow"

Thank god for writing and a sense of humor, huh?

Pistols - there's always booze.

Gwen - the really interesting part didn't happen until I was in my late 20's and I have not yet figured out how to write it all down.

I was really lucky to be loved by so many people and finally grow up in a home with parents so much in love.

R-cubed - I thank dog every day that my darling LBL (Amy's daughter) inherited her mother's (and Aunt Lady's) sense of humor so that she has a way to cope with her miserable kill-joy father (assface). It's either be funny and face up to the weirdness or be a miserable asshole (which I still am sometimes).

Linka - what? Whenever you can honey - sounds like you've got a full appointment calendar.

WendyB - a big "whatever!" to you, you glamorous married to a big shot editor fancy pants fashionable New York socialite you. Nothing interested indeed! Pish-Tosh - now spill it ;)

I was starting to get a bit weepy at the end of that ( no sarcasm intended) there was just something wholesome and sweet and awfully sad about it.

I'll give it a shot on my blog, ok?

Adorable picture. I also had an extremely turbulent early childhood. Makes you resilient, doesn't it?

Wow, what a life you have lead. I think if you can handle all the shit when you're a child, there's nothing you can't handle as an adult.

Oh wow! That's a crazy start to life! I had no idea...

Great meme answers. What an interesting early childhood education you had.

That's amazing. I feel I know you in a few short words.

Kate - Yeah! I knew you'd go for it. Honey I cried this week at a Snapple commercial.

Player - flattery will get you everywhere.

CDP - It made me a bit aloof and not so very trusting, which has saved my butt quite a few times.
Also probably explains why my home is so very important to me.

Beckeye - you would think so wouldn't you - but I can barely handle a long line at the supermarket without throwing a fit.

Heidi - I didn't either for a very long time, but that is for another blog post - maybe.

Churlita - I wanted to tag you for this meme too, but I know you don't cotton to them - but if you come back and read the comments here - then ha ha! You're tagged. If not then, ah well.

G Typist - thanks! Normally I go into too much detail about my shit so I was worried my meme would sound flippant.

What a life! Gosh!

Strange start? oh yeah-- but proof that great women rise from life's challenges.
Would you be offended if I said I wanted to hug you after I read that?

Leonesse said...

Well, we could just cut and paste most of your meme into my blog and call it done! I knew every bar around and was playing pool with the guys at age 5, not that I can play it now.

Okay, Mr. Radloffs list is much harder than yours. I think his is the way I am supposed to do it, but that requires more brain power. I think I will go with yours. Give me a day or so...
