It's Day Old & Bold Baby

Merry Whateveritisyoucelebrate!

Today MDH and I are celebrating not having to drive 2 and a half hours to spend Christmas day at my uncle Dan's house. We are celebrating having the banana pudding I made yesterday to take to my uncle's all to ourselves. We are celebrating the biscuits and gravy I'm going to make us for brunch, and the icy roads that made it all possible.

There is nothing like the glory of wiggling out of visiting elderly relatives with an excuse that is not lame.

The Pudding
The Solid Sheet of Ice That Is Our Driveway and Street

Best Wishes and Happy Holidays to You and Avoiding Yours!

Skydad - Dude, I was feeling so guilty about not wanting to go and continued believing that we were going no matter what - I showered, fixed my hair and put on makeup and everything and then nearly fell on my ass in the driveway.

Joe - hey man welcome to my blog - Chessmen? You don't know the half of it - my banana pudding recipe calls for 2 bags of them - what you see on the top in the photo and then the entire crust is Chessmen too.

That pudding looks amazing. The icy street and sidewalk looks like what we have today. Yuck.

I got out of visiting my brother by just using his bad memory. My sister-in-law asked if we would be visiting them on Christmas day. With my mom still recuperating from the hospital, we used that as an excuse to postpone the visit to the weekend. Then we just kept silent and figured we wouldn't bring it up if they didn't.

yeah, we at least got to cut our visit short at the promise of roads icing up after the sun set. I'm so glad you guys had a great and mellow and drive-free Christmas.

ok so I made a comment DAYS ago on this..but it disappeared..damn it all..
In my family, this would be called "High Falootin" banana pudding because of those "expensive ass cookies". Isn't my family the sweetest?? Oh, and do you make your own pudding or use the box? I actually like the double-boiler method..it makes me feel like a ghetto Martha Stewart.
